Ron Fritts has led a life motivated by the creative impulse. He was always making things, drawing and having to produce Art. Having won several art awards during public school years, he attended: Carnegie Institute to study fine art;
Columbia
University
where he received a BFA in theater arts; The Cooper Union in New York to study painting; the
U.
of
Cincinnati
where he received a painting fellowship and was awarded an MFA.
Since then artistic efforts have been diverse. He was a visual merchandising designer in
New York
; founded RF Studios, Inc. for national distribution of his art: concurrently founded Ron Fritts Soho, Inc and maintained a Madison Ave gallery for his art and designs. A continuing creative instinct led him into the fashion world and the gallery became the Fritts Collection where his fashions were well received along with his art. The gallery lasted twenty seven years along with two other locations in
Manhattan
. He discontinued national distribution in order to focus attention on fashion design while developing his painting in a studio in
Pa.
In addition to these business ventures, Ron was a professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York for 37 years.
In short, there has never been an unproductive period. “Everyone is born with the creative impulse not recognized by all, but some are fortunate to develop this creative energy. Every design, every piece of clothing, every drawing and every painting is an opportunity to express the beauty of life that surrounds us. For me, life and art are delicately bound and they continue to inspire my curiosity. It is through the use of diverse texture and subtle tonal changes that I try to instill a painting with light and spirit.”
His creative energy has recently led him after retirement to locate in the Southwest with his wife to concentrate and further his painting. He has accepted a teaching position at
Cochise
College
to encourage others to develop their creativity. What you see now is the culmination of these disciplines in his effort to capture the enormous beauty of the Southwest and to share his vision.
His goal remains: to capture the essence of life in each and every product that emerges from the extraordinary impulse to create and to produce a product for others to enjoy and reflect on and awaken the need for all to share in developing their own creativity. "Art for all and all for Art!"
